So instead of working on all the irons I have in the fire currently I decided to spend the first 2 days of my spring break impulsively making the plate armor gauntlet/bracers from crossdressing Hemostuck Karkat. This is entirely due to my need to practice making armor and not at all because I made ridiculously undignified noises when I saw that picture. 

Wow, dude, those are fantastic! Holy shit. Do you have progress notes or anything? I’d love to know how you made them, and from what. I’m totally blown away— and would love to know how to make some badass gauntlets for myself.

It occurred to me halfway through assembling this that I probably should’ve gotten permission from the artist and writer before doing this, so I kind of feel like a foot about it. However, the amount of work I put into putting it together was noteworthy and I’m proud of my second attempt at bookbinding, so I’m gonna upload it anyway! (Apologies, you guys! I really really really loved this drawing and this fic and I have this fear that someday the internet will end abruptly and all these things I love dearly will be trapped somewhere, inaccessible forever, and I will remember them poorly and the feelings they gave me will echo away and distort and that’s Something I Hate To Think Of.)

This is a handbound copy of roachpatrol’s i will buy the flower shop, and you will never be lonely., which was inspired by this picture by bendieci. Both are wonderful and if you haven’t seen/read them you are missing out!

The endpapers are from here. I wanted to use a triangular design… in pink. For obvious reasons.

Holy fuck. Holy fuck! Beyond all the stunned and deeply flattered static in my head at seeing this, all I can think is that I really hope I got all the typos out. 

That is a lovely binding job though and the endpaper is cute as hell and a great choice. Awesome job!
